I believe in Radio. I also believe in marketing and protecting brands. How do I connect all three? I have three jobs on The New RETRO RADIO LIVE be it on iHeart Podcast-Spotify-PlayerFM or Youtube.

My first goal is to protect the guest and educate the listener to the guest's brand. Secondly, to protect the listener as being "Retro" I conduct myself under self imposed FCC regulation The FCC strictly prohibits broadcasting obscene content on radio and television at any time, as it is not protected by the First Amendment.

Protect the show. As radio isn't for anyone and knowing that having an online public debate about content isn't Professional, someone has something to say they normally do one of two things: run to admins to get someone removed or canceled or start an online campaign to have one "canceled".

Put the work in. Figure out what your show is and draw a map and explain your vision and goals in an easy to understand way to others that they may share in the vision and share in not only the tragedy but the triumphs.

MARKET: With "Everyone having a podcast" and 25.000 contracted alone on iHeart Podcast how do you stay relevant?

BE CREATIVE BE DIFFERENT. Every one of the prime networks share analytics with the host. We see everyone who listens and where they are listening from. Nicecast was the original broadcasting tool that took you live globally with a satellite map and would pinpoint listeners globally.

Nobody Shares: Since Covid there has been an increased automatism in which NO ONE SHARES POSTS like they used to. Unless the post is directly in a news feed, no one puts efforts into looking at other people's pages. EVERY CLICK OF THE SHOW COUNTS. "Liking it" and "Hearting it" are great. However, actually clicking on my show, or any show, keeps us on the air. Instagram: You can't add external links so all you can do is share a news blurb and hope the reader makes it way to your content.

STOP WITH THE ZOOM INTERVIEWS: Talking heads are not production . Do your homework. Don't ask the same repetitive questions the last 10 radio show hosts did.

Raise your hand: With the way condenser and dynamic microphones are set up, if two (or more) people are talking, the sounds can very easily bleed into another mic. The results is talking over each other. This just turns into a menagerie of words over words. If You have something to say "Raise Your Hand" it's that simple.

How to get guests: Some of us aren't blessed with 4000 interns (Howard Stern) or writers or line producers so here's my suggestion.
1. Get IMDBpro which will get you managers and agents contacts.
2. Create a "Formal Interview Request" and send it to the agents and managers along with your published work and credentials.
(Prepare to send out 1000s to get 10 responses).
3. Watch a lot of interviews and read past wikipedia for FACTS
4. Don't blindside your guest. ASK "Is there anything off limits"
5. Create marketing material and a game plane.

6. BE CONSISTENT. If youre show up at 6pm be "On Air" at 6.
7. DARE TO BE DIFFERENT. Personally I stay away from religion and politics.
8, BE MEDIA. Report facts not your opinion. Read the Associated Press News Wire.
9. COHOST have someone be a copilot that's going to bring something insightful to the table.
A. Do they have a following?
B. Are they sharing and tagging people?
C. Are they utilizing there social media for the show?

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what Ive been doing almost alone since since 2008. Between Film-TV & Radio I have been a one machine in putting it together then keeping it together then delivering it. Nothing happens over night. GRIND !!!!
